The Story Behind the Army-Inspired Gilet.

In my quest to learn more about my heritage, I delved deep into the history of my grandfathers, who both served as KNIL soldiers, fighting under the Dutch flag. Their legacy has always resonated with me, and I’ve long been drawn to military-inspired pieces, a passion rooted in their service and the pride I feel for my lineage. Vintage jackets, overcoats, pants, beanies etc. but I did not find a lot of gilet's. I don't like camouflage (Destiny's Child's Survivor), but I love army-green, vintage custom buttons, patches etc ;)

From my mother's side:

  • My grandfather is from Saparua, Tiouw Maluku - Moluccan Islands
  • My grandmother is from Central Java - Indonesia

From my father's side:

  • My grandfather is from Oma, Leparissa Leamahu - Moluccan Islands
  • My grandmother is from Medan, North Sumatra - Indonesia

This gilet reflects not only my admiration for military aesthetics but also the deep connection I feel to my family's history and their brave service.
